Hound Club of East Anglia Open Show 2014 Critique

I would like to thank the Committee for the invitation to judge at this very friendly and well run show and to the exhibitors for a lovely entry. My stewards were professional and a joy to work with.
Dogs were presented in good condition but forechests are distinctly lacking. Profile movement was very good but fore and aft could be better.

PUPPY (3) (2)

1. DE BOLLA’S REGALFLIGHT FALON (BP)
A young lad of 10 months rather enjoying his day out! Good head, dark eye and well held ears. Powerful neck, adequate forechest, sloping pasterns and a nice fill in. Feet could be tighter. Substantial throughout with depth and spring of rib. Strong rear end with lovely angulations. Moved well, covering the ground. Needs to settle to allow rear feet to extend behind and create a better balance.

JUNIOR (1) (0)

1. BOND’S REGALFLIGHT RUEBEN
One year old masculine dog with a lovely head and correct coat. Small ears, dark eye and strong neck into well laid shoulder. Adequate forechest, flat bone and good pasterns. Plenty of substance all through with depth and spring of rib. Excellent quarters with good length from hip to well let down hocks and a lovely bend of stifle. Moved very soundly with drive holding his topline well.

POST GRADUATE (8) (2)

1. PINK’S GREYHAWKS ROMANIE DROM
Maturing into a very nice dog. Handsome head with dark eye and good coat. Very powerful throughout with lovely front angulations, tight feet and correct pasterns. Good depth and fill in with nice spring of rib. Super backend with great width, good bend of stifle and low hocks enabling him to extend well on the move with great balance. Pushed hard for RBOB.

2. GIRLING’S PYEFLEET TARKA
Young, very fit dog with very nice head and expression and a dark eye. Good lay of shoulder with good length of upper arm. Nice depth and spring of rib with good forechest and topline. Lovely width behind but would prefer more bend of stifle and tighter feet. Moved well with good reach and drive.

3. TRESH’S LYNDORTHWIN ETHEL GREY

LIMIT (4) (1)

1. STUART & HOLT’S REGALFLIGHT TOMAHAWK AT OLLANDSHEART
Mature dog with a masculine head, dark eye and well held ears. Good front angulations, flat bone, tight feet and nicely sloping pasterns. Plenty of width throughtout with good depth and spring of rib. Nice bend of stifle and width of thigh. Moved well, with drive and extending effortlessly.

2. PINK’S GREYHAWKS ROMANIE SHERO
Close up between 1 & 2. Typical male head on a strong neck. Rather upright in upper arm, adequate forechest but good depth and fill in. Good feet and pasterns. Powerful well angulated quarters with great width allowing him to drive out on the move holding his topline.

3. WILSON’S HAMILTONHILL ONE VISION

OPEN (9) (1)
Best class of the day with the 2 best movers

1. GIRLING’S PYEFLEET SABINE (BOB)
Workmanlike bitch of good type. Very sound and well balanced. Nice head but would prefer a darker eye. Strong neck into a well laid shoulder. Good feet & pasterns. Lovely depth & spring of rib with good fill in. Strength and substance throughout with powerful quarters, super fallaway, good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Covered the ground, holding her topline, moving with effortless drive.

2. STUART & HOLT’S REGALFLIGHT CIVET (RBOB)
Another workmanlike but curvaceous bitch with very attractive head, dark eye and small, well set on ears. Lacking coat at the present but correct texture. Good pasterns, feet okay. Nice front & rear angulations with substance throughout. Excellent forechest, depth & spring of rib – good tuck-up and fallaway. Moved very well, with drive and a light easy true acton.

3. TRESH’S TRENTDALE GLAMIS
